Arches Oil Paper Sheet

Arches Huile is a paper designed specifically for oils. It is made with a traditional process on a cylinder mould, with slow turning of the cylinder enabling the fibers to be deposited evenly and spread in all directions over the wire. As a result, this paper is homogeneous with a flatter surface and better wet strength and stability, giving artists better control when painting.

Arches Oil Paper is 100% cotton with a balanced fine-grain surface allowing artists to comfortably experiment with the surface and obtain light and shadow effects. The 300gsm weight of this paper is suitable for use with washes and impasto. Ideal for use with oils and oil pastels.

Arches Oil Paper features a unique sizing formulation with an oil barrier, making it a semi-absorbent surface. It is resistant to scratching, oxidation (when in contact with paint), and very tolerant to solvents. The paints will sit on the surface, giving excellent rendering of colors and a faster drying time.

Calcium carbonate is added to give the Arches Oil Paper an alkaline reserve that protects it against acid attack from the environment. It is acid-free, with no optical brightening agents added.
